This cluster maps the mechanisms by which platform architecture shapes language — and how that language travels from screens into everyday speech, carrying its original context with it. Some of this vocabulary is playful. Some of it is ideological. Often it is both simultaneously, which is part of what makes it analytically interesting.
The decontextualisation is the story: words that originated in specific communities — gaming, incel forums, Black American internet culture — spread through algorithmic amplification into general use, stripped of their original meaning. The spread is not neutral. The context travels invisibly with the word.
